A corner can be the most practical TV location when windows, a fireplace or traffic paths occupy the main walls. It also creates a geometry problem: the screen must fit in both its viewing and stored positions.
Work with the screen’s full outline
Use the actual width and height of your TV, not just its advertised diagonal. Mock up the outline with paper or removable tape and compare it with the planned seats. Include space for a soundbar if one will move with the screen.
Decide which wall could support the mount and where the screen would park. A TV that looks centered across a corner may need a very different bracket position from one that lies flat on either wall.
Check the product’s geometry
Extension and swivel capability vary by bracket and by the screen attached to it. The SANUS VLF728 specifications are an example of model-specific information to compare. Do not infer the usable corner position from the words full-motion alone.
Ask whether the intended movement conflicts with curtains, furniture, a mantel or the adjacent wall. A clear pathway around the extended screen matters as much as its appearance when folded away.
Plan connections for the movement
- Locate power and signal devices before choosing a cable route.
- Keep the route clear of moving joints and pinch points.
- Allow the range of motion specified in the installation plan.
- Check the normal viewing position from each main seat.
Send photos of both walls and the seating arrangement with the TV model. That helps your installer discuss the corner as a complete layout rather than trying to select a bracket from a single close-up photo.
