A wall-mounted TV should solve a room problem: an overcrowded console, an awkward viewing angle or a screen that competes with everything around it. Start by describing the result you want. The installation choices become easier when the room comes first.
Make a short room plan
Sit where you normally watch and mark an approximate screen outline with removable tape. Check it from the other seats, too. Open the curtains and switch on your evening lights. A location that looks balanced from the doorway may be uncomfortable from the sofa or reflect a bright window.
Leave space for a soundbar, furniture and the connections you will need to reach. If the TV will move, consider its extended position as well as its parked position. Photograph the wall straight on and from the side; both views help explain the project.
Collect the right information
- The TV model number, not only its diagonal size.
- The bracket model if you already own one.
- The wall surface and anything known about its construction.
- The position of power, streaming devices and cable connections.
- Any landlord approval or access arrangements.
Agree on the scope before installation
Mounting, supplying a bracket, changing the power location and concealing signal cables are different pieces of work. Ask which are included in your estimate. Clarify whether a soundbar will attach to the wall or travel with the TV, and where small devices will live.
